A Uniondale man wanted for desertion from the U.S. Navy was arrested Friday morning at his home, Nassau police said.

Roberto Carlo Ayala, 20, of 1068 Harrison St., was found in possession of a loaded 9-millimeter Beretta semi-automatic pistol and a high capacity magazine, police said. He was arrested at 6:40 a.m. without incident.

U.S. marshals and members of the Nassau County Fugitive Squad executed an arrest warrant, police said.

Ayala was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a high capacity magazine, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court, Hempstead.

Police did not provide further details in a Friday news release.
