A Uniondale man who went to a pharmacy with a fraudulent prescription had several other forged prescriptions, Nassau police said Tuesday in announcing his arrest.

Jonathan S. Lewis, 28, had dropped off a prescription for promethazine with codeine Monday at the CVS in Wantagh, but the pharmacist noticed it was fraudulent and called police, authorities said. Promethazine with codeine is used to treat allergy and cold symptoms.

Officers arrested him and found he had 140 oxycodone pills, a powerful painkiller, and eight fraudulent prescriptions written out, police said.

Lewis, of 1118 Braxton St., was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and eight counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday; arraignment information was not immediately available.
