Cops: Wantagh man arrested after drug deal
A Wantagh man allegedly sold drugs early Friday at an intersection in the hamlet, Nassau County police said.
Christopher J. Dwyer, 24, of 3084 May Rd., was arrested at 1:40 a.m. at his residence after officers from a special unit saw him sell what appeared to be a bag of marijuana to a passenger of a car less than an hour earlier, police said.
He is charged with criminal sale of marijuana, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
Officers from Nassau's Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team said a blue, four-door 2011 Hyundai with four people stopped at the intersection of Mayer and May roads at about 12:55 a.m.
A man -- police said it was Dwyer -- approached the vehicle and another man, a rear-seat passenger, got out; the two "exchanged what appeared to be a clear plastic bag with a leafy brown substance for an undetermined amount of U.S. currency," according to a news release.
The passenger returned to the car, which drove off.
Police said they stopped the vehicle and found that the rear-seat passenger -- Michael Myers, 20, of 201 N. Richmond Ave., North Massapequa -- was seen "putting the clear plastic bag with the leafy brown substance in his pants pocket."
Police said Myers also had in his possession three clear capsules containing a tan-colored rock-like substance and a black handled switchblade knife.
Myers was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
He also is scheduled for arraignment Friday, police said.
An investigation revealed that three small blue pills identified as roxicodone and two bags containing a tan-and-brown colored powdery substance alleged to be heroin were found in the car, police said.
The three remaining occupants of the vehicle -- driver Adriana R. Rivera, 19, of 1101 Huckleberry Rd., North Bellmore; and passengers Jessica A. Levyns, 19, of 1266 Greenbriar Lane, Bellmore, and Tyler J. Woods, 20, of 547 Seaford Ave., Massapequa, were arrested on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Each is scheduled for arraignment Friday.
Officers said Dwyer consented to a search of his residence, where they found substances believed to be marijuana, cocaine and methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
