A Westbury man was arrested on burglary and robbery charges after he broke into a house early Thursday, punched a man in the face and stole his laptop computer, Nassau County police said.

Third Squad detectives said Promison Joseph, 19, of 211 Sylvester St., broke the glass on the back door of a Westbury home at about 1:45 a.m., then entered a bedroom to steal a laptop computer.

As Joseph was allegedly stealing the computer, the victim woke up and confronted him, police said.

Joseph then punched the victim in the face and fled the house, according to police.

Joseph was later identified as arrested in Searingtown at about 10 a.m., police said.

He was charged with burglary and robbery and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
