A 34-year-old Westbury man was arrested on a charge of violating an order of protection Friday, but not before police said he struggled with arresting officers -- injuring one of them.

Nassau County police said the Third Precinct officer, whose identity was not released, suffered a broken finger on his left hand during the arrest. The officer was treated at a hospital and released.

No other injuries were reported in the incident, which police said took place at 2:25 a.m. Friday in New Cassel.

Antonio Ballez-Florez, of 942 Brush Hollow Rd has been charged with second-degree assault, first-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest, police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said the officers responded to a call reporting a domestic dispute at a residence on Sherman Avenue.

A 29-year-old female, whose identity was not released, said she had an order of protection against Ballez-Florez that police said officers found had been violated.

Police said Ballez-Florez fled and was tracked down, but when officers attempted to arrest him near the intersection of Grand Street and Broadway he resisted and struggled with the officers. During that struggle one officer fell and broke his finger, police said.
