Anthony Richard, of Westbury, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 10:40 p.m. attack, police said in a Tuesday news release. Investigators gave the following account of the shooting, which left another man wounded.

Richard was parked in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz on Adams Street, near Grand Avenue, with his friend, 20, when they were approached by an unknown man who fired multiple shots into the vehicle, hitting Richard and the passenger, police said.

The wounded Richard drove a short distance before striking a tree, at which point the male passenger got out of the vehicle and went to a nearby home for help.

The passenger, whose name was not made public, went to a home on Lincoln Street, where someone answered his knock and dialed 911, police said. He was later discovered on the lawn and was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
