A woman, walking along a street in Freeport, was shoved to the ground and robbed of her handbag Tuesday night, Nassau County police said.

The woman was not injured. The robber fled.

Police said the incident occurred on North Long Beach Avenue at 7:45 p.m. They said the 46-year-old woman, who was walking southbound, was struck from behind in the lower back, then knocked to the ground by the assailant.

The robber took a beige handbag, then ran off.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
