Cops: Woman robbed, stabbed while loading packages into car
A woman loading packages into her car outside a Walmart store in East Meadow was robbed by a man who stole her pocketbook, cellphone and cash before stabbing her in the arm with an unknown object Tuesday night, police said.
The incident occurred at the store on Hempstead Turnpike at 10:35 p.m., Nassau County police said. The victim, identified only as a 42-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
Police said the assailant was about 6-foot tall with a stocky build and said that, after approaching the woman in the lot, he demanded her pocketbook, which contained the phone, cash and other property. It was not clear how much money was taken.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
