She broke into a barber shop down the block from her home in Oceanside, stole a watch, and then, police said, after she was arrested, became "irate" -- punching one officer in the face and injuring two others.

On Saturday, about 9:20 a.m., police said, Kathryn Ringhauser, 21, of 57 Anchor Ave., broke into the David Express Barber Shop on Anchor Avenue after smashing the front glass window. Once inside, police said, Ringhauser took a watch worth $1,500.

She was arrested a short time later behind a Taco Bell on nearby Long Beach Road, police said, and the watch was recovered.

Police said that Ringhauser was taken to the Fourth Precinct station house, where she "became uncooperative and combative" during a prisoner search. She became irate, they said, and punched one officer, then injured two other officers in their wrists and necks who were attempting to handcuff her.

The officers were taken to a hospital, where police said they were treated and released.

Ringhauser was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and three counts of second-degree assault.

She was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead and remanded to the Nassau County Correctional Center. Bail was set at $250,000 cash and bond at $500,000. Her next court date is Wednesday.
