A West Islip woman faces grand larceny and drunken driving charges after stealing a running SUV from a Massapequa driveway and then crashing it into the garage of a nearby residence, police said.

Leah Gude, 23, of 628 Keith Lane, was walking on Division Avenue noon Saturday when she "observed a 2009 Ford Expedition in the driveway of a residence with the keys in the car, entered it and drove away," according to a Nassau police report.

Gude drove the SUV into an occupied car and an unoccupied parked car before hitting the garage - all on Polo and Merrick roads, police said. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported, police said.

The owner's pocketbook, containing credit cards and cash, was in the stolen SUV, police said.

Police found Gude on Merrick Road after the accident and arrested her at 12:30 p.m.

She was charged with third-degree grand larceny, driving while ability impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated, among other charges, police said.

She is scheduled to appear Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
