Cops: Woman tried to take victim's handbag
A Glen Cove woman pushed an elderly woman to the ground and tried to steal her handbag Wednesday, Nassau detectives said.
Police charged Irene Halloran, 48, with attempted robbery in the 1:38 p.m. incident at the Edgewood Motel on Jericho Turnpike in Jericho.
The 79-year-old victim, whom police did not name, never relinquished her bag, police said, and she suffered minor injuries to her leg and wrist.
Police said Halloran fled, but was captured shortly after in one of the motel's rooms. She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
