A worker at a Syosset home for seniors was arrested after she made about $4,000 in phone calls from work to Haiti and failed to compensate her employer, police said.
Arlinda Raphael, 22, used four different phones at the Christian Fellowship Home to call relatives in Haiti, Nassau County police said.
The administrator of the home told police that in July, Raphael, of North Columbus Avenue, Freeport, admitted making the calls and promised to pay the charges but never did.
Police said that when they arrested Raphael Tuesday at her other job at the Brandywine Assisted Living facility in Melville she was in possession of a credit card in the name of a resident at that facility.
Raphael was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny, as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
She is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said the phone calls by Raphael to Haiti occurred between May 29 and June 20.
The earthquake in Haiti occurred Jan. 12.
