Nassau County detectives are looking for two men who allegedly robbed a couple at gunpoint in Uniondale early Saturday morning.

Police said the couple were entering their vehicle parked on Braxton Street and Maple Avenue about 1:15 a.m. when two men armed with handguns demanded money from them.

One of the men took a gold-colored chain and an unknown amount of money from the male victim while the other entered the vehicle and swiped the pocketbook of the female victim, police said. A cellphone and an iPad were in her pocketbook, police said.

Before fleeing the scene, one of the robbers allegedly beat the male victim with his handgun, police said. The victim was driven to a hospital for treatment of multiple lacerations to the face and head.

Detectives request anyone with information about the robbery to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
