One man was killed and another was seriously hurt Friday morning in a one-car crash in Herricks, Nassau County police said.
The car, a 2008 Chevy Impala traveling eastbound on Hillside Avenue, left the roadway, struck multiple utility poles and came to a stop near Devonshire Drive, police said.
The driver, a 75-year-old man from Bellerose, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The male passenger, 76, was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Neither man was identified by police.
The crash happened at 9:15 a.m., police said. It prompted the closure of Hillside Avenue by Herricks Road, and the investigation was continuing.
There appeared to be no criminality involved in the crash, police said.
