A Rockville Centre woman died early Friday morning after her vehicle crashed into a box truck in Baldwin, Nassau County police said.
Chelsi Perez, 27, was driving a black 2005 Hyundai west on Merrick Road at about 1:45 a.m. when she lost control and hit the box truck, which was in the eastbound lane near Gale Avenue, police said.
Perez was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 69-year-old driver of the truck was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Photos from the scene showed a sedan badly damaged on the driver’s side and the damaged front end of a box truck.
Both of the vehicles were taken for a safety inspection and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Merrick Road, closed at Gale Avenue after the crash, had reopened by early afternoon, a police spokesman said.
