Crash shuts down eastbound Sunrise Highway in Freeport

A portion of Sunrise Highway in Freeport was closed to traffic Sunday as police investigated an auto accident.

The eastbound portion of Sunrise Highway between Liberty Avenue and Meadowbrook Parkway was closed at about 4:45 p.m., and remained closed into the night, a Freeport police lieutenant said.

Freeport police had no immediate details about the accident -- including the number of vehicles involved or injuries.

Police were still on the scene investigating at 9 p.m.
