Two early-morning accidents snarled the Southern State Parkway in both directions in Nassau Tuesday, police said.

One crash involved two westbound vehicles and closed two lanes near Exit 19, Peninsula Boulevard, in Rockville Centre about 7 a.m. Two people were injured in that crash, state police said, though neither injury was believed to be serious.

The second accident involved three vehicles eastbound near Exit 20, Grand Avenue, in South Hempstead, police said. No one was injured in that crash.

Both crashes, however, caused delays and traffic backups through the area.

Earlier, the state Department of Transportation reported a multiple-car crash near Exit 23, Meadowbrook Road, in North Merrick.

That crash was resolved within 10 minutes.
