Queens woman stole van from West Hempstead 7-Eleven, police say
Nassau police arrested a Queens woman Sunday after, they said, she stole a van from a West Hempstead convenience store.
Crystal Solomon, 39, of Long Island City, was charged after police said she drove off with a 1995 Chevrolet Astro parked in front of a 7-Eleven store at 383 Hempstead Tpke. at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday.
A Fifth Precinct officer saw Solomon run through a red light at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road, and attempted to stop the car, but Solomon refused to pull over, police said.
The van then crashed with two other cars, police said, an unoccupied 1998 Nissan Pathfinder and an occupied 2009 Toyota Camry.
Officers arrested Solomon at the scene. Four people from the Camry were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Solomon is charged with four counts of first degree reckless endangerment, third degree grand larceny, third degree unlawful fleeing, reckless driving and unlicensed operator.
As of Sunday evening, her arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead was pending.
