Cyclist badly hurt in Valley Stream hit-run
A bicyclist riding along a Valley Stream street was critically injured early Sunday morning after he was hit by a car that left the scene, Nassau police said.
The 37-year-old victim was bicycling on Brookside Drive near Rockaway Avenue at 3:38 a.m. when he was hit by a small, dark-colored car driving west on Brookside Drive, police said.
After hitting the bicyclist, the driver did not stop, but instead took off going south on Rockaway Avenue, police said.
The injured bicyclist was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said the case was transferred to the Nassau police Homicide Squad due to the severity of the victim's injuries.
