A 25-year-old Queens man was sentenced Wednesday to 60 days in jail for setting fire to garbage in four trash containers on July Fourth in West Hempstead, Nassau County prosecutors said.

Emmanuel Borg, of 224-11 92nd Ave., was also sentenced to 2 years of probation and ordered to pay $1,400 in restitution to the Town of Hempstead, according to the office of Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice.

Borg pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor fifth-degree arson in August, prosecutor said.

Borg set the fires starting at 5 a.m., police said at the time, adding that he used a stack of newspapers for kindling at his last location, a CVS in the 600 block of Hempstead Turnpike. One of the fires damaged at Town of Hempstead light pole, prosecutors said.
