A couple accused of operating a counterfeit DVD business out of their Queens apartment have been charged with several felonies in Nassau County, prosecutors said Friday.

A diner owner tipped off authorities in April that Xiao Yu Zheng, 48, came to his restaurant every Thursday to peddle DVDs, acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said.

Zheng and her husband, Xing Ming Wang, also 48, were charged with scheme to defraud, trademark counterfeiting and other crimes, the prosecutor said.

She said an investigator from the Motion Picture Association of America worked on the case with investigators from her office. They found that Zheng would go from table to table at restaurants selling the DVDs while her husband waited in a car, Singas said.

They also sold DVDs at nail salons, car washes and other locations, Singas said.

They were arraigned Friday before Judge James Darcy in First District Court in Hempstead and ordered to return to court Tuesday, the prosecutor said.

Investigators found 1,500 counterfeit DVDs in the couple's Flushing apartment when they made the arrest, prosecutors said.
