A financial planner from West Hempstead pleaded not guilty Friday morning to charges of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in his car in Wading River.

David Boutin, 42, is charged with three counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of second-degree sex abuse, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor. A grand jury indictment against Boutin was unsealed Friday.

Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn ordered him held on bail of $25,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

Assistant District Attorney John Cortes said Boutin met the boy in April through a posting on Craigslist and they arranged to meet on a remote utility access road. There, Boutin performed a sex act on the boy, Cortes said.

Boutin and the boy then exchanged emails, some of which were sexually explicit, prosecutors said. They later met again at the same spot and had another criminal sexual encounter, but a police officer looking for a stolen motorbike was nearby and found them, prosecutors said.

Cortes said Boutin gave a written confession and that forensic scientists are examining DNA that could further strengthen the case.

Defense attorney Frank Tinari said his client denies the charges. He said Boutin is seeking counseling with his wife and in the meantime is living with his mother in Northport.

Boutin was arraigned Aug. 18 on two counts of second-degree criminal sexual act in First District Court in Central Islip.
