A Merrick man died in an all-terrain vehicle accident in California Friday night, according to a news report.

The San Jose Mercury News reported Saturday that Daniel Louis Didden, 40, died after losing control of the ATV and falling off while on San Antonio Valley Road in San Jose near Mount Hamilton. Didden had been riding on trails during a visit with relatives.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed they were investigating the accident but did not provide any additional details.

A man answering the phone at the address in Merrick listed for Didden declined to comment Sunday.

The Santa Clara County coroner's office will perform an autopsy Monday, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
