A Far Rockaway man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Baldwin was ordered held without bail during a court appearance Friday.

Dashawn Wade, 22, who police said had been captured at 6 a.m. Thursday in Hempstead with the help of federal marshals, did not enter a plea during the proceeding before District Court Judge Douglas J. Lerose. Lerose ordered Wade to be held without bail.

Police said Wade shot two men at 3:41 a.m. on Aug. 2 in front of the Love Jones Cafe on Grand Avenue in Baldwin. Daquan Gaskin, 22, of Baltimore, was shot in the chest and died, police said. The other victim, 39, was shot in the leg and was treated at a hospital, police said.

Wade is facing a charge of second-degree murder. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 9.
