Police have identified the man killed in a utility truck crash Tuesday in Woodmere as Keith Bailey, 47, of Queens Village.

Nassau County police said Bailey was a passenger in the 1995 Mitsubishi utility truck when the driver lost control and hit a tree on Peninsula Boulevard at 12:48 p.m. The accident scene was located between Saddle Ridge Road and Lafayette Drive.

Police said the driver, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified upper body trauma. He remained in serious condition Wednesday, police said.

Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic.

The crash prompted authorities to close down a section of Peninsula Boulevard. The road was reopened to traffic at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said preliminary indications are the cause was noncriminal.
