A Floral Park woman was one of two women killed when a ride-share they were passengers in was struck from behind by a tow truck on Interstate 93 late Saturday in Boston, Massachusetts State Police said.

Police said Delanie Fekert, 25, and another passenger, Urashi Madani, 25, of North Andover, Mass., were in the rear seat of a ride-share vehicle at about 10 p.m. Saturday when the driver of the 2007 Lexus RX400H SUV slowed for unknown reasons on northbound I-93 south of Exit 20 and was struck from behind by a Kenworth tow truck. The Lexus overturned, trapping both women, police said.

A third vehicle, a 2012 Honda Civic, struck the tow truck as a result of the initial accident, police said.

Police said Fekert and Madani died at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus, identitied only as a 53-year-old man from Revere, Mass., was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Police said the operator of the tow truck, identified only as a woman from Salem, Mass., was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene.

The Honda driver, a woman from Manchester, N.H., was not injured and also remained at the scene, police said.

Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit, a State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section team and other Massachusetts State Police units. Police said those investigations will determine if criminal charges are warranted.
