One person suffered minor injuries escaping a fire that damaged a deli in Westbury on Wednesday, police said.

Nassau County police said the fire at the store on Post Avenue was reported at 1:04 p.m. Police said firefighters from Westbury, Hicksville and Carle Place responded, extinguishing the blaze, which appeared to start in the rear of the building.

The identity of the injured man was not released. He declined medical attention at the scene, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau police Arson / Bomb Squad and the Nassau County fire marshal.

Preliminary indications are that the fire was not suspicious.
