Man robbed Hempstead Chinese restaurant 4 times, cops say
Nassau County police arrested a Valley Stream man Friday after they said he robbed a Chinese food restaurant.
Hempstead Village police responded to New Shing Wong Kitchen on East Fulton Avenue in Hempstead after an alarm was reported ringing at 1:47 a.m. Friday. Officers found that a front window had been broken and a person had entered the restaurant and taken an undetermined amount of money.
After reviewing security footage, officers broadcast a description of the suspect. A short time later, police found Donald Joseph Smith, 55, of 202 Emerson Place, about a block away. Police arrested him, and all proceeds were recovered.
After an investigation, police charged Smith with three other burglaries that occurred at the same location on Sept. 17, Nov. 21 and 25. Police have charged Smith with four counts of third-degree burglary.
He was due to be arraigned Saturday at First District County in Hempstead.
