DOT: Overnight lane closures next week in Hempstead Town
To allow for bridge scaffolding work, starting Sunday two or three lanes in both directions of the Southern State Parkway are to be closed at night in the Town of Hempstead, the state Department of Transportation said.
The removal of scaffolding from bridges between Franklin Avenue (Exit 15) and Meadowbrook Road (Exit 21) is expected to last about one week, the DOT said.
With one lane remaining open in both directions, westbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and eastbound lanes from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the DOT said.
Drivers can look to alternative routes, such as Sunrise Highway, or be prepared for delays.
