DOT to close part of Meadowbrook for repairs starting Nov. 17
One lane of the Meadowbrook State Parkway will be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 17, and continuing through Friday, Nov. 21, between Ocean Parkway and Merrick Road as repair work is performed on the Sloop Channel Drawbridge.
The lane closures will affect both the northbound and southbound lanes each day between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
The department said the lane closures are needed to perform work on the drawbridge "to help assure its integrity and help maintain motorist safety."
The bridge will remain in the closed position between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and will not be available to mariners, state officials said.
The department urges motorists to use alternate routes such as the Wantagh State Parkway.
