Driver airlifted after Southern crash
The driver involved in a one-car accident on the Southern State Parkway in Wantagh Tuesday afternoon was airlifted to a hospital after the crash, State Police said.
The eastbound lanes of the Southern at Exit 28 were temporarily closed after the 1:36 p.m. accident, officials said. The right lane was the last to open, about 90 minutes after the crash.
The driver was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with serious injuries, a state trooper at the scene said.
