Driver crashes at Hicksville Speedway, Nassau police say

A driver hit a pole at a Hicksville Speedway station Monday night, Nassau County police said.
Photos from the scene show that the vehicle narrowly missed striking a gas pump.
News 12 Long Island, citing police, said the driver fled the scene after hitting a pole at the station on West Old Country Road near Apex Lane about 10:30 p.m.
Police could not verify that the driver fled and said that no criminality was associated with the crash.
