Drug, DWI charges for N.J. man
A New Jersey man stopped Thursday morning for speeding on the Northern State Parkway in Old Westbury faces drug and felony drunken-driving charges, state police said.
Kenneth Sewere, 33, of 21 Banta Ave., Garfield, N.J., was driving a white Toyota east on the parkway near Exit 32, Post Avenue, when he was pulled over at 2:47 a.m., New York State Police said in a release.
While being interviewed by troopers, Sewere had bloodshot, watery eyes, poor motor coordination and a strong odor of alcohol, police said. He failed sobriety tests and provided a breath-analyzer sample of .13 percent.
Troopers also said they found three Vicodin pills in his pocket, the release said.
He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and several traffic violations.
The drunken-driving charge is a felony, police said, Sewere has a previous conviction during the past 10 years.
Arraignment information at First District Court in Hempstead was not immediately available.
