Three Long Island men were arrested Wednesday after police said officers found a collapsible baton, a .22-caliber rifle and heroin during a traffic stop in East Meadow.

Dennis Egan, 22, of 16 Willowood Dr., Wantagh; Jeffrey Marmolejos, 22, of 13 Seaman Neck Rd., Wantagh, and Joseph Conticelli, 25, of 468 Gardiners Ave., Levittown, were each charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.

Nassau County police said Egan, the driver, also was charged with criminal possession of a dangerous weapon and improper signaling, while Marmolejos was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said Third Precinct officers stopped the car on Hempstead Turnpike at 2:35 p.m. and spotted the collapsible baton on the driver's side floor. Further investigation revealed a loaded and altered .22-caliber rifle and 330 wax envelopes used to package heroin, police said. Three wax envelopes contained heroin, according to police.

Egan, Marmolejos and Conticelli were scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead Thursday.
