A Great Neck man was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after flipping his vehicle in a one-car accident on the New York State Thruway in the upstate town of Tyre on Monday, state police said.

Barry A. Kirsch, 33, of Hartley Road, suffered a minor back injury in the crash but was not hospitalized, police said.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with DWAI / drugs, as well as seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He also was cited for "imprudent speed" and moving from his lane unsafely, police said.

Kirsch was released, but was ordered to appear in the Town of Tyre Court on Dec. 20.

Tyre is about 45 miles west of Syracuse.
