Drunken driving charge for driver in bushes
A Floral Park man whose car was parked in the bushes off the Southern State Parkway Wednesday in North Wantagh faces drunken driving charges, State Police said.
At about 3:40 a.m., a trooper saw a blue Mitsubishi Lancer on the westbound shoulder of the parkway near exit 29, Route 107, police said. The car was "beyond the shoulder and in the bushes," according to a release from police.
During an interview with troopers, the driver, Joseph Canosa, 21, of 35 Hill St., showed "signs of intoxication and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath," the release said.
Canosa failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.
Arraignment information on charges of driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations was not immediately available from First District Court in Hempstead.
