A West Islip woman who rear-ended a fellow driver Wednesday on the Southern State Parkway in North Massapequa faces a drunken-driving charge, State Police said.
Troopers responding to a call for a two-car accident on the eastbound parkway near Exit 30, South Broadway, at about 5:21 p.m. found the driver of a Mazda had hit a Nissan from behind, according to a news release.
When troopers interviewed Radha Maharaj, 35, the driver of the Mazda, they detected an odor of alcoholic beverage, the release said.
Maharaj failed sobriety tests and was arrested on DWI charges, police said. She also provided a breath-analyzer reading of .18 percent.
Police reported there were no injuries.
Maharaj is charged with DWI and traffic violations, police said, and is scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in First District Court in Hempstead.
