DWI charges after driver hits tree
A Long Beach man who crashed his Toyota into a tree Thursday night on the Meadowbrook Parkway in Merrick faces a drunken driving charge, State Police said.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene of a one-car accident at about 6 p.m. and found that the driver of a red Toyota had lost control and struck a tree, southbound on the parkway near the Merrick Road exit, State Police said.
Police determined that the driver, Paul Levesque, 40, was intoxicated, and he was arrested and charged with DWI and traffic violations, police said.
Levesque was treated for minor injuries at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and released.
His arraignment information at First District Court in Hempstead was not immediately available, police said.
