DWI driver did 95 in Corvette, police say
A Hempstead man stopped Sunday for driving his Corvette 95 mph on the Southern State Parkway in Lakeview faces a drunken driving charge, State Police said.
A trooper pulled over Torrance Owens, 37, at about 6:20 a.m. for exceeding the 55 mph speed limit near Exit 18, Eagle Avenue, police said in a Monday news release.
The trooper said Owens had watery and bloodshot eyes. He failed sobriety tests, according to a news release.
Owens was arrested for DWI and several traffic violations. He produced a breath-analyzer reading of .11 percent and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on July 29.
