E-bike teen rider with head injury airlifted to hospital after crashing into stopped vehicle in North Massapequa, Nassau police say

A teenager was airlifted to a hospital with a head injury on Friday night after he crashed his e-bike into an stopped vehicle in North Massapequa, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and South Brittany Drive around 8:30 p.m. A 17-year-old boy was riding an e-bike westbound on Boundary Avenue when he ran into a 2010 Toyota that was stopped for a red light at the intersection, according to police.
The teen hit his head on the ground after the crash and was transported by a Nassau County police helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. A Nassau police spokesperson did not have an update on the teen's condition on Saturday morning.
The spokesperson said Nassau police sometimes airlifted people with head injuries to ensure that the injured person could be evaluated by doctors more quickly.
The 23-year-old male driver of the Toyota was not injured in the crash, according to Nassau County police.
