All eastbound lanes of the Southern Parkway were closed Monday morning in Nassau County for an accident investigation, according to the state Department of Transportation.

State police said the incident, a one-car accident, occurred at about 4:30 a.m. and said the road was closed between Exit 24, Merrick Avenue, and Exit 25, Newbridge Road.

Police said additional details were not immediately available and could not say how many people were in the vehicle — or how seriously anyone was injured in the crash. Police also said it was unclear how long the road would remain closed for investigation and cleanup.
