A man with a handgun confronted three elderly women in a Westbury home and fled Tuesday with their jewelry, Nassau police said.

He followed an 83-year-old visitor through an unlocked side door in the home and demanded jewelry from her and two other women there, ages 90 and 86, police said.

The suspect displayed his handgun, took a jewelry box from a bedroom, then fled in a gray, four-door Honda, police said.

The incident happened about 2:05 p.m., police said. The suspect appeared to be about 50 years old, had graying, black hair, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and medium to heavy build, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
