An Elmont man was arrested Saturday afternoon after displaying a handgun in the waistband of his pants to a neighbor with whom he was having an argument, Nassau police said.

Cedric Cornick, 22, of 35 Crystal St., became involved in a dispute with a 44-year-old neighbor at about 12:39 p.m., police said, after which the neighbor and his 5-year-old son left the scene. When they returned a short time later, police said Cornick shouted to them from across the street and lifted up his shirt to display a handgun in his waistband.

The neighbor called police, who arrested Cornick. A .36-caliber handgun and two imitation rifles were found at Cornick's home, police said. No one was injured.

Cornick was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child.

At his arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, Cornick was ordered held on $50,000 bond or $50,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
