An 18-year-old from Elmont was arrested Thursday and charged with a string of auto break-ins in Elmont, Franklin Square and West Hempstead since February, police said.

Nassau County police said Maverick Matos of Travis Avenue stole tires and rims from Hondas and Acuras. The total take was about $20,000, police said.

Matos was charged with nine counts of grand larceny and one count each of criminal mischief and resisting arrest, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
