Elmont man charged in two stalking incidents
A 32-year-old Elmont man was arrested Sunday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and stalking after police said he has tried to entice underage girls into his car at least twice since October.
Reginald Pierre, 32, of 119 Queens Ave., is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of fourth-degree stalking, Nassau County police said.
The first reported incident took place at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 27 in Valley Stream, when Pierre allegedly approached a 14-year-old girl as she walked across the street from Valley Stream Central High School. Police said Pierre was driving a dark green Nissan Maxima with Florida plates, when he "attempted to engage the victim in conversation, asking the victim if she wanted a ride."
The second reported incident occurred at 4:15 p.m. March 4 and involved a 12-year-old girl who was walking alone southbound on South Montgomery Street in Valley Stream. Police said it was then that Pierre followed the girl for about "three blocks, asking her to come to his car."
Police said a witness confronted Pierre - and he fled.
In a Sunday news release, police did not say what the circumstances were that led to Pierre's arrest.
