A 20-year-old Elmont man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, two days after police said he struck a 21-year-old man over the head with a wrench in Hewlett.

The wrench assault occurred Monday at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Mill Road, police said. Police said the victim, whose identity was not released, suffered a laceration to his head that required medical attention at a hospital.

Other details of the attack were not clear.

Nassau County police said Jason Shure, of 200 Claridge Ave., was arrested at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, charged with second-degree assault.

Shure is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.

New York State court records indicate Shure also has multiple other court appearances scheduled in other cases, including a pellet gun attack last July on two teens that involved an attempted robbery at the Woodsburgh Town Docks in Woodmere.

Court records also indicate Shure faces misdemeanor drug charges in connection with marijuana possession in an unrelated case.
