Elmont teen charged in burglary of neighbor's home

An Elmont teenager was arrested on Saturday and charged in the theft of electronics and sneakers from a home on the street where he lives, Nassau County police said.

Police said Amir M. Gardner, 16, of Hill Avenue, went to another Hill Avenue home on Friday and took an Xbox, a Samsung Galaxy tablet, a PlayStation 4, and six pairs of sneakers.

Gardner then sent messages to his friends over the Internet, telling them that he had items for sale, police said.

Police investigating the burglary arrested Gardner at his home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Some of the items were recovered, police said.

Gardner was charged with second-degree burglary. At his arraignment on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, Gardner was ordered held on $15,000 cash bail or bond, according to online court records. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
