About 65 firefighters needed four hours Tuesday morning to extinguish a house fire in Levittown, fire officials said.

The Levittown Fire Department responded to a call at about 5:57 a.m., a department spokesman said. A house on Forester Lane had caught fire, with smoke and flames originating from the right rear of the house, near the master bedroom.

Both homeowners were able to get out of the home without incident, the spokesman said.

The house had extensive damage to its exterior and smoke damage throughout, the spokesman said. He said the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating but that the fire "did not appear to be suspicious in nature."

In addition to Levittown, fire departments from Wantagh and East Meadow also assisted, the spokesman said.
