FAA: Delays at NYC airports
The early-morning fog is long gone, but weather-related delays continue at area airports Monday, officials said.
A traffic management program is in effect at Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark-Liberty airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA is reporting delays averaging 28 minutes on arrivals at Kennedy and almost two hours on flights into LaGuardia. Delays on arrivals at Newark are running about 1 1/2 hours, the FAA said.
There also are sporadic delays on arrivals and departures at Long Island-MacArthur, though most are somewhere less than 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service said we can expect brief rain showers Monday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 60s -- lower than the highs in the 70s predicted earlier.
The weather service said showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday evening.
Conditions similar to those Monday -- early-morning fog, sporadic rain, potential evening thunderstorms -- are possible Tuesday, as well.
Forecasters are calling for periods of rain Wednesday and Thursday, as well, before partly sunny skies return Friday.
