False bomb threat evacuates Cablevision in Jericho
What turned out to be a false bomb threat led to the evacuation of a Cablevision office building in Jericho Sunday evening, Nassau County police said.
About 40 people had to leave the building because of the threat, made by a female caller, a county police spokeswoman said.
No explosive device was found during a search by police.
The threatening call was answered by a Cablevision security guard at about 6:30 p.m., who in turn summoned police, the spokeswoman said.
She didn't know what exactly the caller said but detectives are seeking her.
Cablevision, the corporate parent of Newsday, is also Long Island's dominant cable television provider, with millions of subscribers in the New York metro area.
Cablevision spokesman Charlie Schueler said, "We are cooperating fully with the authorities and will have no further comment."
